Jim DeMay is a Senior Partner at Bryson Harris Suciu DeMay.

Jim represents individuals, companies, and public entities in a variety of class action, mass tort, appellate, and other complex litigation matters. In his nearly 20 years of practice, Jim has served as lead or co-lead counsel in cases recovering over $250 million for his clients.

Jim’s class action practice includes cases involving unfair and deceptive fees, unlawful utility rates, consumer fraud, wiretapping statutes, state and federal privacy laws, and other matters. He served as co-lead class counsel in Daedalus, LLC v. City of Charlotte, 282 N.C. App. 452, 872 S.E.2d 105 (2022), which resulted in a $106 million settlement on behalf of property owners who were coerced into paying unlawful development fees, as well as in dozens of other class actions that have resulted in multi-million-dollar judgments or settlements.

In addition to class actions, Mr. DeMay has represented cities, counties, and other governmental entities across the country in cases involving environmental and consumer protection matters. He currently represents cities and public water systems across the country in cases seeking to recover abatement costs for PFAS forever-chemical contamination in public water supplies in In re: Aqueous Film-Forming Foams Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2:18-mn-2873-RMG.
