Beyond Meat, Inc., Protein Settlement

Attorney Nick Suciu and his co-counsel reached a $7.5 million class settlement with Beyond Meat, Inc. regarding the protein content in their Beyond Meat branded Meat Substitutes. Plaintiffs alleged that Beyond Meat misstated the amount and quality of protein in their products.

This case represents a complex litigation which involved multiple class actionsconsolidated by the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation before the Northern District of Illinois. Beyond Meat predominately advertise their products’ protein content, allegedly leading consumers into believing that the protein content of the products is higher in terms of both quantity and quality. Yet, plaintiffs alleged that the protein content was unstated and had lower quality than advertised when its
Protein Digestibility Amino Acid Corrected Score was examined.

Following more than two years of litigation, multiple rounds of mediation, and extensive arm’s-length negotiations, plaintiffs were able to reach $7.5 million non-reversionary common fund settlement.
