Gina Wheeler is Senior Counsel at Bryson Harris Suciu DeMay.
Gina joins the firm after leading the mass torts practice for a private firm in the Camp Lejeune Marine Corps water contamination case. She managed a team of attorneys, case managers and staff in pursuing more than 200 claims in a complex legal administrative and statutory arenas. Her work involved using creative and thorough research techniques to substantiate claims.
She also served as a project attorney for cases involving pharmaceuticals, patents, construction, antitrust, price fixing, and banking matters. Her work with technology-enabled review and coding, privilege determination, text and blackout redaction and quality control consistently exceeded metrics requirements.
Gina honed strong relationship-building skills and is a demonstrated litigator, while mentoring associate attorneys.
She also served as deputy counsel for the North Carolina State Bar Office where she was overseeing and evaluating the investigation and prosecution of grievances filed against attorneys. Also, as the assistant city attorney in Charlotte, NC, Gina provided legal advice regarding municipal matters such as code enforcement and compiling massive records requests.
Furthering the Legal Profession
In a unique role, Gina spent more than a year working with a rehabilitation facility, developing and documenting case plans for clients of long-term substance abuse. This work included liaising with clients in legal and family matters before the courts, as well as connecting clients to housing, education, vocational opportunities, skill development and family support.
Her extensive array of experiences on many sides of the law saw her always in a solutions-oriented role. She developed heightened negotiation skills and became an effective consensus builder, all while holding a strong dedication to client relationships.
