Marty Geer

Of Counsel

Martha Geer is a Partner with Bryson Harris Suciu DeMay. Known as Marty, she brings more than four decades of litigation experience and judicial service to her role as one of the firm’s lead partners for appellate practice and strategic briefing.

Legal History

As a former North Carolina Court of Appeals judge, she heard more than 3,800 appeals and authored more than 1,350 opinions with fewer than 2% reversed—a record that reflects both rigor and clarity in legal analysis.

Before her judicial tenure, Marty practiced at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP in New York and was later a partner with two prominent North Carolina plaintiffs’ firms. She left the bench to return to representing plaintiffs with an emphasis on appeals and class actions.

A board-certified appellate specialist, she focuses her practice primarily on consumer protection class actions, crafting key high-stakes motions at the trial level, handling appeals , and helping strategically to ensure that cases are built for long-term success across all phases of litigation. She brings a judge’s perspective and decades of experience to each matter. Marty also takes on a limited number of external engagements, helping co-counsel on appeals or on key trial-level motions when the issues are particularly complex or novel.
